Application Process

 

Important Notes

  • The lottery for the Performing and Fine Arts Academy will be held at 4:30 p.m. in the Natomas Charter School Media Center on April 15, 2010.
  • All applications must be submitted in person by a parent or guardian on or before February 26, 2010.

How to Apply

  • Applications for the Performing and Fine Arts Academy will be available the first school week of January. You may come by the Charter office to pick one up or download a copy. If you choose to download your application, be certain that all pages are accounted for.
  • A complete application contains 17 pages EXCLUDING the cover letter. All 17 pages must be returned with the appropriate documentation to the Charter office on or before the last school day of February.
  • Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Application Preferences

The public random drawings shall be conducted in stages in accordance with the following preferences in the priority order listed below. These preferences are authorized in accordance with applicable law.

  • Priority 1: Students currently attending the specific program shall be automatically re-enrolled for the following year. (A new application is not required for "Priority 1" student, but each returning student will be required to return an “intent to return” form distributed to all NCS students)
  • Priority 2: Applicants for the Performing and Fine Arts Academy who score in the top 15% of the audition criteria.
  • Priority 3: Children of NCS Full-Time Employees and/or current Board of Directors
  • Priority 4: Siblings of students who currently attend the same NCS site-based or non Program to which the applicant is applying, who reside in the District.
  • Priority 5: Siblings of students who currently attend any NCS site-based or non site-based program, who reside in the District.
  • Priority 6: Siblings of NCS alumni who successfully completed the same NCS site-based program within the last three years (including the school year the application is being received), who reside in the District.
  • Priority 7: Students currently enrolled in NCS who have successfully completed the previous full school year in a NCS program other than the program for which the applicant applied, who reside in the District.
  • Priority 8: Siblings of NCS alumni who successfully completed any other NCS site-based or non site-based program from the NCS program for which the applicant applied, within the last three years (including the school year the application is being received), who reside in the District.
  • Priority 9: Students on the wait list from the previous year (who submitted an application during one of the two open application periods) for the same program for which the applicant applied, who reside in the district
  • Priority 10: All other applicants residing within the NUSD.
  • Priority 11: Siblings of students who currently attend the same NCS site-based or non-program to which the applicant is applying, who reside outside of the District.
  • Priority 12: Siblings of students who currently attend any NCS site-based or non site-based program, who reside outside of the District.
  • Priority 13: Siblings of NCS alumni who successfully completed the same NCS site-based program within the last three years (including the school year the application is being received), who reside outside of the District.
  • Priority 14: Students currently enrolled in NCS who have successfully completed the previous full school year in a NCS site-based or non site-based program other than the program for which the applicant applied, who reside outside of the District.
  • Priority 15: Siblings of NCS alumni who successfully completed any other NCS site-based or non site-based program from the NCS program for which the applicant applied, within the last three years (including the school year the application is being received), who reside outside of the District.
  • Priority 16: Students on the waitlist from the previous year (for students who submitted an application during one of the two open application periods) for the same program for which the applicant applied, who reside outside of the district.
  • Priority 17: All other out -of -district applicants.

If an application has been intentionally misrepresented, the application shall be invalidated. Upon notice, the applicants will, however, be granted an opportunity to respond within 5 school days.
