About Mrs. Rice
Mrs. Rice is originally from Maine but moved to New Jersey when she went to college. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa with her B.A. in English and a minor in economics from Rutgers College, Rutgers University. However, she also had a very strong interest in science and worked through and after college as a technician in a toxicology lab. She seriously considered pursuing graduate work in the field but came to realize that a career in science was not for her. She moved to New York City where she eventually enrolled in New York University's Steinhardt School of Education to pursue her master's degree in secondary English education.
Mrs. Rice has taught English in Bronx, NY; Fairfield, CA; and now at Natomas Charter School. She loves music, theater, and art, as well as the outdoors. She lives in Sacramento with her husband, dog, and cat.
